in a different world

"Now why would I mind?" Eric bit into a cookie.

"Can you taste it? I didn't use any sugar in that batch?" Syd asked about the cookies. They were sweet as sugar. What was her secret? Then she told him about using the agave nectar. She was so excited about this dinner party.

"Maybe you should invite more people." Eric told her.

"I don't want too many. This will be enough, your sister and Liz. They might hit it off." Syd was all grins. She carried Ella about so she could look at everything. Evan was almost walking, getting into the pots and pans. Drooling on most everything.

"I just dunno. Dora isn't exactly kiddie proof. And Liz can't be much better." Eric winced as he went to get a glass of milk.

"You just think they'll think I'm Betty homemaker or something, won't you?" Syd glared at him then.

"Don't be surprise if they make fun of us. They just don't know how happy they could be if-"

"What? They wanted a real family?" Syd frowned slightly.

"Right. Don't let them get to you. Dora is in her own universe. Lord knows, whats going on with Liz." Eric shrugged as he drank his milk.

"Well, she seems not to care what is going on with Kip. I'm just glad he called." Syd told him.

"Really? Are you?" He wasn't sure what that meant. Possibly, he would always be like family to her. "Well, good. I'm glad you at least know where he is."

"I should send him a picture of the baby. Of us." Syd nodded.

"And some cookies. You know, a care package. Bet he could use one about now." Eric smiled. Syd smiled too.
