whatever shall we do?

"I don't want him thinking I'm a prat or anything." Eric wasn't sure if he should dress up for such an occasion or just what. "I didn't want to overwhelm him with the kiddies." He and Ian were waiting at the airport. His Dad was parking the car.

"Now why would he think that?" Ian looked at him as if were worrying for nothing. "This is just Oliver, and he's got what he wants. It'll be fine."

"You know him, that well, do you?" Eric guessed it was about the girl. Right now. Not the past. Not him. Not their family.

"Enough." Ian shrugged.

"Right." He looked up to see his Dad was there. Now if the plane would just get here. The weather was colder, but not too bad. It could have been much worse. Ian looked at the arrivals. He grinned. But there was a bit more of a wait than Eric was hoping for. He could have had a cup of coffee and read most of the morning news now.

But finally they arrived, after a long walk up the vast white hallway. Suddenly there was laughter, and he could clearly see how happy his father was to see Oliver. Hugs all around. He finally met the infamous Kayla, who looked as if she couldn't be that wicked. As it was, she seemed rather happy with Oliver. Just then behind them was the visit all over again, with her parents.

Eric just sighed. Well, they weren't the only ones happy to see them, evidently.

"Would you like to stay at my place?" Eric asked Oliver while Kayla was talking to her Mom and Dad.

Oliver stared at Kayla's family as if he'd been almost ambushed. "Maybe I should." His eyes lit as if that would be the right thing to do.
