such great timing

"It was just a spat, wasn't it?" Fiona set out the waffles and bacon for Jonah. As it was he was on mute since Christmas. She knew she couldn't cheer him up, but he did need to eat.

"I really loved meeting that sister of yours. She and Jules are so lovely." Fiona guessed Jonah didn't like the words she chosed. He looked up at her with a soured look, but he put raspberry syrup on the waffles and crunched on a piece of bacon.

Gilly came to the kitchen with Tristan. Gilly kissed her as if it might be long overdue. Of course, they'd had morning sex only 20 minutes ago. She took Tristan from him and put him on her waist. His chubby legs hugged her middle as if he'd never let her go.

"What's up with you and Hayley?" Gilly wanted to know as he went to pour them coffee.

"She's being all clingy, with that Archie." Jonah said with disgust.

"I don't really know this Archie." Gilly went to help her put Tristan in his high chair. He cut bits of waffle and banana for him. "You just have to give it some time. Its her family."

"Yeah, family, very important." Fiona smiled as if she truly believed in it. "You, are really a big part of our family, Jonah." Of course, they did pay for their share of the flat. Wasn't like they were getting a free ride from Jonah.

Fiona kept smiling as she looked at Gilly wondering if he'd tell Jonah the news. But she suspected Jonah might go off the deep end, no matter who told him.

"I'm pregnant." She smiled as if it were the best news. It truly was. She knew Gilly was thrilled.

Jonah looked at Gilly bitter. "You sure, its even yours?"

"Jonah, you're an arse! A real bender, you are! How could you say that to her?" Gilly didn't let it go.

"Gilly, please..don't do this. Just let it be." Fiona was ready to jump in the middle of it, if she had too.

"No, he's to respect you."Gilly snapped as she scowled at Jonah, then looked back at her. "You've done nothing wrong. We've done nothing wrong!" Gilly got a bit loud and Tristan joined in as if it might be some sort of roustabout.

Jonah didn't listen. He put his dish in the sink with a harsh clank and walked away. Slamming the front door behind him.

Fiona wondered if they'd have to move sooner than she expected.
