Betty was beginning to think she needed to get away to Florida. The airfare was cheap, and it would be a family get-away.
Ed said he could look after the house, but that wouldn't do.
"Oh, no you don't." She told him he was coming, too. If she could miss a Friday and Monday of work, so could he.
She didn't have to twist his arm.
"But, we'll have to take Ollie." He looked at her as if she hadn't thought this out. Looking after Brick and Lily was one thing, but Ollie? "And what about Dewey?"
"OK, they can go, as well." She could handle it.
"They won't like it." He shook his head. He would handle things here. "You, go with Brick and Lily."
But it didn't feel right. Betty felt she was back to square one. Nothing had actually changed in her life. Maybe they weren't even a couple. It was only a dream on a long winter's night. Evidently.
He'd gone back to his room, as of late. She couldn't tell him, she wanted to go on an adventure with him. It would be silly to talk about taking a walk on the beach with him.
Finally, she called Ollie's old Foster family.
"Could he stay at your place?" She told Valentina's mother it would only be four days, and he'd be working a lot of hours at the grocery store.
Betty smiled when the Foster mom said it wouldn't be a problem. Now, if she could get Ed excited about the trip to Florida.
