no time to dwell

"You gotta stop stressing," Kyle's answer to everything. "It was just a movie." He shrugged as if he had better things to do than to stay with this stale conversation about Rex.

"You don't even like him? Do you?" He asked while going through the crap in his closet. He thought there was an amp that his brother used with his electric guitar. Ellie sat on his scruffy futon with the patch quilt, looking at his red bull can collection on the shelves above his bed. Along with various other energy drink cans.

"You know I don't like him." She sighed. "I don't even know him. I didn't exactly give him a chance, did I?"

"Duh, why should you, huh?" He looked at her now as if she should be helping not dwelling on the worst evening ever. "You just enjoy arguing with me, don't you?"

"No, I don't." She crossed her arms and hoped he found the stupid whatever because they were in his room. She wasn't sure she wanted to be here awake. It was different last time. That was before. Before anything really serious had happened between them. Before they were a couple, she guessed.

"We are a couple, aren't we?" She then looked at him.

"Some what mysterious, but yeah, I guess so." He really wasn't all that romantic about it as he thrashed stuff about. He huffed then. "Where is the damn thing?"

"Are you going to clean this up?" The room was practically trashed, and here Kyle was dancing about as if he'd forgotten something.

"No," he smiled with a laugh and hopped on the futon then, giving her a playful nudge back on his pillow.

"Its totally disgusting in here." She told him.

"And your room is a hospital? I don't think so. You've got crap too." He was touching her hair. Then softly laughed in her ear. She made a face.

"Well, my crap is all in order." Ellie told him. He smiled and kissed her. It didn't go any further.

Finally he sat up on his elbows. "We better get to Cory's before he thinks we forgot about him."

"I'm going too?" First she'd heard. She thought their jam sessions were private in Cory's garage.

"Well, yeah, we gotta perform for somebody don't we?" With that they both got up. Ellie was going to try not to think about Rex.
