Of course Dora drank, and laughed. Oh she had to go on and on with Ian what a rotten little lad their brother had been growing up.
"And you know what he did last year on his test essay, Ian? That makes up like a third of his grad." Dora had her arm around Ian sipping her spiked drink and all smiles. Her black hair was chopped shorter now and she wore a hair band of pink poises. She looked so nostalgic and amazingly beautiful.
"What did Eric do?" Ian was so curious. Eric wanted to shout something obscene at her but he had to just keep smiling.
"He wrote the word fuck four times throughout the essay, and his teacher thought it was brilliant to say the least, but he had to get a zero because its not allowed. For the sake of art. Your brother spoke his peace. Although, he almost failed English in doing so." Dora said so dramatically.
"Wow," Ian grinned. "I'm so impressed."
"Well, thank you very much," Eric sighed a weak smile and walked away, putting his arm around Ellie.
"Please, we've got to get away," he whispered in her ear then. "I need some fresh air."
"Is that all you need?" Ellie looked at him. "Oh, I forgot, I got you one more thing."
"Did you, really?" He was all grins thinking of one thing. "Well, lets go somewhere then so we can..can open it." He took her hand then. "I have to do something," he just said.
"We'll be back," Ellie acted as if they were only going to the Cum & Go for ice.
They ran down the stairwell then out into the chill of the dark night.
"My God, why oh why must I have all these people over!" Eric said once they got to his car and he wrapped his arms around Ellie. "You were the only thing I needed for my birthday, you know." He kissed her then.
"Actually, I did get you something," She shoved an envelope at him. It was tickets to a day after Thanksgiving concert with all his local favorite bands.
"I can't believe it. I wasn't even thinking that far ahead." He smiled looking at the tickets then. "You are so amazing." This time he really kissed her longingly. Finally he put the tickets in the glove compartment of his car.
"Lets just go for a walk." He really didn't have that much gas. And just holding her hand was enough. That's what made this work. Something simple. Just holding hands.
yeah. simple things. like what i've just written. little things are what really stand out. =]
