bad idea

It felt to Kyle it had been three days in one. Thanksgiving. First it was getting everything ready. Then dinner. Then to see Amanda's Mom and back. Of course, Derrick wanted Kyle to spend his whole time with him. Naturally, Amanda said no. "You have other friends." They didn't have a fight, but Derrick went off to watch TV by himself.

Finally. Now when he thought of the word it felt so final. But at the time it was like opening a door from one world to the next. Yeah, it had happened. Sex. Intercourse.

Not that that was what Kyle had in mind like a hidden agenda. It wasn't. But it didn't take much to get him interested, either. It was just happening sooner than maybe later. But like a storm stirring, it was slowly brewing. Like maybe Kyle would figure out. ...this was a bad idea. But no, that didn't happen as they were together in Amanda's room. Which was slightly cold to make the skin prickly.

Kyle could hear the football game through the walls. Derrick was on his electric guitar between commercials practicing a Nickleback song or was it something from that guy who used to date Evanescence. Not that this was going through his mind. Amanda brought it up while they were kissing, and finding each other in the dark. It wouldn't happen. It wouldn't and if it did... He'd be prepared, wouldn't he? And he was. Of course, there was a moment when he thought he lost the condom. They found the condom in his pants. Then it was yet another horrific of a moment.

"I don't know, its not like, you know." Amanda was trying tell him she'd never done this before.

"Are you sure?" Maybe he was telling himself that, but he said it to Amanda when his face was next to hers and they were just so close. Her lips were chapped. His were chapped. And yet that was not enough. Not enough. It felt like a threat in his head now as it had come and gone so quickly. Yet the scariest moment was when he actually lost the condom. It wasn't on. It was somewhere else.

It felt like a Ben Stiller movie. Where did it go? He'd put it on. She didn't help, but thought it was funny. But this wasn't. This was not funny.

"Are you OK?" He asked first.

"Well, of course," she was just shaking with laughter. He wanted to say something that she was so tight, but he wasn't sure if he could explain it so he just let it go as he tried to find where it had gone. Of course, it hadn't exactly gone anywhere. It was still there. Just not on him. Some place else.

With a squeeze and tug, it was out.

"What was that?" Amanda might have known more if it hadn't been dark.

"You don't really want to know." He just said. Then his cell rang and his Mom might have been their a lot sooner than he though. She was banging her fist on the front door.

In the next moment he was scrambling for his clothes.

"I knew this was a bad idea." But he kind of liked it, anyway.
