booty call

Ellie was trying her best to be in a good mood. So much to look forward to. The concert. Ben and Lonnie coming for Christmas. She had to keep thinking those thoughts.

Instead it still bothered her that Kyle thought Amanda was getting fat. Why would he say that? Honestly? Of course, things were kind of odd at work too. Evidently, Elliot told somebody he'd been seeing her on the side as well, as Amber, Caroline and a few other girls. Ellie was trying to decide if she should give him a piece of her mind or not about this tidbit of information going around. Was he just wanting a cat fight or perhaps a sexual harassment file was in order? Really, though, she wasn't giving him the time of day. That was the best method.

She'd learned though, he'd used some of the same tactics on her with some of the girls. Oh this was really going to be painful for someone, Ellie suspected. Evidently, more than one had fallen for his cool and almost magical ways.

"Well, what's he like afterwards?" Ellie was a bit amused wondering if he was that much fun the second time around.

"What do you mean? The sex?" Amber who was more independent minded about expressing herself than the others, usually, only dated guys she knew would make it on the University football team.

"No!" Ellie couldn't believe they were talking about this. "I don't want to hear about the sex. You know, have you gone out with him, again? Will he actually go on a date with you? Or are you always having to go back to his place?"

Amber had to think about that.

"I don't like him, anymore." Amber decided. So much for her Holiday romance between semesters.

Ellie thought of the look on Amber's face. At least Ellie could wonder just what were they going to do with Elliot. She just hoped she didn't hear about somebody freezing to death on the news. It might be Elliot.

Ellie had promised she'd help Amanda make something for Kyle for Christmas. She'd seen something called a booty doll. So she came up with her own design for it. It was just single crochet. Something with buttons for eyes. It could be turned upside down and become a rabbit's head. She made a whole family for Kyle. She worked on a large one while Amanda worked on smaller ones. What Amanda couldn't get done, she finished.

"All he needs is this, and candy," Ellie told her. "And of course, you." Ellie hated to ask her if she'd noticed a change in Kyle. She knew it was best to stay out of it. Instead, talking about Christmas 'when they were little' helped. She did want Amanda to have a good Christmas. She'd heard about her Mom. It made Ellie feel bad that she hadn't done much with her own Mom, lately. But they'd both been busy.
"Hopefully, Ben and I can do something for my Mom," Ellie mentioned. "That is if she'll let us."

"Why is it like that?" Amanda just said as if she was thinking about something else. Maybe it was about Kyle. "Do you think its worth it? Going out of your way at Christmas just to give someone something when they act like you aren't even there for the most part."

"Well, yeah. I guess so. It'll make you feel better in the long run," Ellie thought anyway, but she definitely wasn't getting Elliot anything. "You know, like putting some money in the Salvation Army kettle, or volunteering at a soup kitchen, even food drives, giving new coats for homeless shelters and lets not forget toys for tots."

"Yeah, I know, but I don't think my brother has ever given me a thing. Ever. And I get him something every year." Amanda looked sad about it.

"Well, he's family," Ellie shrugged. "Usually, you'll find more kindness in a stranger," Ellie thought of her sister who hadn't called, of course. Ellie definitely wasn't counting on her waking up soon to the fact that they were really sisters, and they might need each other one day.

  1. Elliot seems to be a pretty unpleasant guy. I hope Ellie won't be too fascinated by him. Don't give him anything for Christmas, Ellie!
And I still wonder if Kyle isn't worried if Amanda could be pregnant.
The crocheted doll is cute! I'd wondered what it was when I saw it as your profile photo. A whole family, how CUTE! And I like them better with the 'rabbit ears' pointing down, i.e. the way they're in the picture.
I don't know... It's sort of an obligation to give family members something, but if Amanda's brother has never given her anything, I say forget the present!
