Eric had seen enough. He knew where Elliot lived. Not so far away. Unfortunately.
He thought about slashing Elliot's tires, but Eric knew he wasn't quite that demented. Now was he?
He went home. It was just he and the cats. His mother had put them on a diet because she joined Weight Watchers. She'd already lost twenty pounds. So a lot of things were going. Like the booze she kept.
Fortunately, Eric kept the bottle of Jack Daniels in his dresser drawer under all his t-shirts. His mother hadn't been snooping as of late. She was past the idea that he might be cross-dressing now. It still blew his mind that his mother got that in her head, but she was amazingly funny with the worries she came up about him. Only, drinking hadn't came up, and he'd wondered when he might find some satisfaction in taking part in a drink, some day.
Ellie didn't like him to drink. Wouldn't like him at all if he did. She complained of the smell. His weirdness. Really, so much she didn't like..he was becoming aware of.
Eric took the top off and let the harsh liquid gush down his throat. He thought for a second he couldn't take it, but he did. And he smiled. God he'd missed it so. He'd raced down little drinks of bourbon with his gram when he used to visit while a little tike. Such memories made him smile now. She was a lot of fun.
Then he looked up and saw he wasn't alone. Mom's fat Siamese was watching him.
"What do you want?" He talked to her as if she were a burden. "Go away!" He shouted, but she didn't. She hopped on the bed with him and started to lick the spilled liquor on his finger tips.
Eric burst into a chuckle. It was the funniest thing ever as he watched.
"You like that, aye?" He smiled then. Poured a cap full and gave it to the cat. Before he knew it everything was starting to blur. So you really could have a blast being alone, he was beginning to think. Eric knew he'd have to get used to it. He wasn't going to miss Ellie if he could help it.
oh...
ReplyDeletepoor eric.
this makes me so depressed.
especially the scene with his grandmother... (don't ask me why)
I hope Eric won't have a problem. I hope.
ReplyDeletePoor Eric... In the last chapter, you pretty much left us in the dark about how it went on, didn't you? ^^ Ah, you always know how to keep us on our toes. I hope Eric doesn't do anything insensible - his suspicions aren't confirmed... yet. Haha when I read these sentences "It was just he and the cats. His mother had put them on a diet because she joined Weight Watchers." I first thought the mother had put the CATS on a diet ^^ But when I read the part about the fat Siamese I don't know - so I'm gonna ask: Did Eric's mum really put the cats on a diet? If she did, this is a sensible thing to do - many pets are too fat. I'm worried about the drinking part. Also about Eric giving it to the cat... But Eric's mother sure comes up with some amusing worries ^^
