Roger didn't say anything for the longest time to Olivia. At least they were home. He just wanted them to be alone. Lon went off to bed.
"Maybe you'll feel better in the morning," Roger didn't want to say just that. He made her a ham sandwich with Miracle Whip and tomatoes and lettuce on toast. He cut it in triangles and ended up eating half of it.
"That was-" Roger wanted to tell her it was biggest adventure he'd ever been on.
"Just don't, will you." She ate her half of the sandwich then.
"Don't ever scare me like that again," he looked at her and thought he might cry. "I thought you could tell me anything."
"I do, but this-" She sighed and washed the sandwich down with a glass of milk.
"Look, I'd do anything for you, I truly would." He studied her face. She was so beautiful in such an unusual way, and he felt so strange for knowing it now, that he'd overlooked it far too long.
"But you can't." She began to frown so sad. Olivia couldn't help but gush with tears.
"Why didn't you tell me about you and Eric?"
Olivia blinked but more tears came. Roger reached for a cup towel then and gently wiped her tears away.
"I couldn't." She shook her head. "What could you have done?"
"Not worried so much about what Eric might think, if he knew about us." He grinned then leaning in to touch her cheek.
"What would he be mad about?" Olivia's plush smile emerged.
"I dunno." Roger sighed slightly as he moved in and kissed her on the lips. "Maybe that." He kissed her opened mouth then. It was a slow kiss that definitely wanted to go somewhere. Roger drew her in more. They kissed as if they'd found each other, finally.
