in a galaxy far away

It was a long time coming, but finally, they had a weekend to themselves and of course, there was only one thing on Lon's mind, and it really wasn't about the past. It was about right now.

"We never do this in the morning." He grinned. They'd made love before breakfast. OK, it was brunch. But none the less, it was a good time in bed and really, he didn't know if he wanted to mention Ellie's cousin now. He knew he had too, but he didn't know how. Especially after having a very lull of a morning with Ellie.

Aside from the bite mark on Ellie's shoulder from Charlie, she was haut. Well, she always would be to Lon.

"He's been better, hasn't he?" Lon didn't want to think of Charlie being mental. Just a little hyper. Wasn't that better than being lethargic? But he'd been a little bullet, lately. Trying to charge out of the house just because he could figure how to get out. Honestly, he didn't know the kid had so much energy.

"Yeah." That's all Ellie would say about it. He knew Charlie loved her, but the child could be just as mean to her too. Lon didn't understand the reasoning. Hopefully, it would pass.

He kissed her as if they shouldn't think about Charlie and his little adventures. Really, it was quite sweet. And he hated that they didn't have more times like these.

"Sorry, I acted like a fool when, you know." He was thinking how crazy he must have sounded with the kidney stone. He'd never had anything to endure so painfully in his life. Now it made him think how horrible childbirth might be.

He closed his eyes then, knowing she needed to know about her cousin.

"I have to tell you  something-" He squinted hard then, wondering what to say next.

"What? Are you OK?" Ellie rose up on her elbows.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He nodded with a sigh. " Its just, there is this thing I didn't tell you. That I should have. That I hadn't thought about in ages." He turned away then and laid back on his pillow. He looked into the nothingness of the ceiling.

"What?" She turned to him, but he didn't want to look at her.

"I know your cousin, Reese." He gritted.

"I haven't even met her, Lon?" Ellie winced.

"I know, but when I saw her picture at your grandparents. I knew who she was." He sighed. "It was a long time ago." Maybe not that long, but it felt so long ago. "Really, I was a different person then. God, I don't know how to tell you this." He shook his head, disgusted with himself.  "Or if any of this makes a difference to say it. I'm just sorry. I honestly am, I didn't know you then. I doubt I knew anything I was doing. Actually. Its just I don't want to make you think I hurt on purpose..because I didn't...."  He thought he might be sick. "I might- I dunno for sure, but she has a daughter, and-"

Ellie laid back on her pillow and she let out a sigh. She didn't say anything. It was as if she knew what he was thinking.

He didn't want to say anymore. A part of him wanted Reese's daughter to be his, and another part didn't want anything to do with the matter.
