a small world
Amanda wasn't expecting to see Ellie with Charlie while she was over to see Evan. It was a nice surprise. Charlie was using some baby sign language. She was impressed.
"How did that happen?" Amanda found herself laughing. He was so cute and not like his wild little self she'd heard horror stories about.
"Persistence. Perhaps." Ellie shrugged. She was in the floor with him. "It helps with daycare. To be around other kids. Its kind of hard to say if its perfect because its not. You know, they get sick, but then they need to be around other kids to socialize too."
"God, that reminds me, I've got my brother and Charity coming to visit." Amanda stared at Evan then who was kicking and cooing in his crib. He'd grown so much since the last time she'd seen him. It was like she didn't know this infant at all. She took a deep breath, hoping he didn't notice her anticipation, and picked him up.
He was so friendly. She looked over at Syd who was knitting on a pink baby sweater. Syd was so slim even with a baby bump. She envied her a little, but not really.
"You're looking great." Amanda decided to stay positive.
"Well, you know, I'm not the only one here who's expecting." Syd grinned and looked at Ellie.
"You are so kidding me, aren't you?" Amanda was in shock now. Ellie pregnant?
"No." Ellie slightly smiled.
"Were you guys planning on this?" Amanda wondered.
"Not really." Ellie told her.
Amanda smiled more. It was nice to see other people didn't plan families perfectly, either. She looked at Evan more and decided it might be time for him to at least come home for a visit.
