looking for sunshine

Kayla didn't really celebrate Thanksgiving, but she was on holiday. With Oliver.

Anyone else, might have found him down right silly. His great Aunt did. Kayla stayed at the old row house with the two of them. It was all so proper. Except when they'd go out to the pubs at night. Sneak in late to his room. She couldn't tell if she felt like a teen or a grown woman on her romantic adventure.

1. he had a sweet smile.
2. he was an adorable baby.
3. he knew what a cup of tea was suppose to taste like.

Yes, this had to be the full meaning of brilliant. And she did not want to go back, but they were expecting her.

"I don't know what's keeping him here." His Aunt said to her the day before she left. "He hasn't even any real friends. And I don't need the place. I'm moving in with my boyfriend, you know."

Kayla almost choked on her tea. She couldn't imagine someone so old as Imogene to have a boyfriend, but Kayla couldn't help but smile.

"So you take him away, now will you? I'll even pay for the airline ticket." Imogene told her.

"Well, uh.." She didn't know what to say. She accepted with a nod. Now it was just getting Oliver on the plane.

"No, I can't, really, this was all so lovely." Oliver was a loss for words when Kayla brought it up.

"What is it?" Kayla thought they were on the same page with their romance. They'd made love in the floor of his room last night, just so Imogene couldn't here the bed squeak. "She wants you to leave."

"Its not that I don't want to go. I can't." He looked as if he might pass out. "I've never been in the air."

"That's, all it is?" She wanted to laugh, but she knew he was serious.

"Pretty much. I don't even like the metro. I'm the worst traveler in the world." He squinted.

"You haven't even tried." She was a bit testy, perhaps. "You might love it." She smiled then.

"I don't even know how to drive." He looked as if he might be entirely useless.

"I'll just have to teach you." She pulled him in. He couldn't miss this old room, could he? If only she could put him in her pocket, she would. But this was reality. They best start packing his suitcase.

  1. Flying pretty much freaks me out too -- I usually board with a tall stack of magazines stowed in my carryall and have my nose buried in them from the moment the plane takes off to when it touches down again!
