too many bluffs to call
"What are you getting at?" This was the last thing Amanda needed from Derrick when she got home, late..as it was. She was running through the house trying to change her clothes before Elliot got here. "Stop making this up."
So..yes...
Asa had gotten taller. He grew up. More than just being taller, she thought.
"But I had nothing to do with it." She stopped and looked at her brother, almost stumping her toe in the process. She pulled the oversized gray sweater over her head that covered the thighs of her skinny black jeans.
"Yeah, right. He was virgin, wasn't he?" Derrick said ever so blunt, standing there in her bedroom.
"Just shut up." She squinted hard. This was no time, getting in a spat with him. She needed lip gloss. She needed to look good. Well, not sexy, but good. The thought of Elliot thinking she could very well get by without him lingered. But could she? After all, she had Asa now, accidentally (she wanted to keep thinking) Of course, when Derrick said virgin, she stopped in her tracks. She didn't know. She hadn't asked. Didn't seem Asa needed any instructions.
Well, she really felt caught in the middle now and she didn't know if she could swim out of this..if she tried. Hadn't she learned her lesson..from before? With Kyle. With Eric. Even with Elliot.
She hurried to her closet to find her fake-furry cheap clogs and quickly glided on the sheer lip-gloss. She still looked all of fifteen. Damn, she hated being a little girl... Amanda grimaced then looking back at Derrick. She felt so pathetic. It had been such a long day. So many long days. She pulled her hair back in a scrunchie and went with it.
The doorbell rang. Funny, she expected Elliot to just walk in. After all, it was his house.

Amusing. I guess ringing the doorbell is a nice touch, though.
ReplyDeleteI definitely feel that whole "long days" business.
so many long days, i like that..so true sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteI liked that about her looking all of 15. How she wishes she didn't, I suppose. & Derrick, he sure knows how to push all the wrong buttons.
ReplyDeleteI totally get her frustration.
ReplyDeleteAs long as she feels confident, she will look confident. She can do this! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Derrick is no help at the moment.
ReplyDeleteJust what Amanda needs..a brother who thinks she's deflowering someone to make him taller.
ReplyDeleteI liked the fast pace of this particular post, unless that was just me....
ReplyDeleteOh, it looks like the time is coming.
