keep calm

Ian heard the old cat purring. It was unlike her to come to his room. Especially, be on his bed. It was his step-mom's cat. Usually, he had nothing to do with the cat because she was pretty lethargic and large. But today she was like a kitten, it seemed so as he scratched  under her chin. She put the yoga cat moves on him and was in his lap before he knew it. Her gray coat was soft and she stretched more in his arms.

He laid down then with the cat on his stomach. Ian sighed then thinking he'd made way too much out of this ordeal with his family and thinking coming out would be worse than jumping off a bridge. His dad had been kind of cold, which he expected. But still, he hadn't said anything like, "We'll send you to military school, son. Take the gayness right out of you."

No, he was all, "I guess you'll just have to bring that boyfriend of yours around."

It was hard to tell if his Dad just didn't get it or was maybe teasing him. Maybe not. Ian didn't really try to dwell on it.

Of course, he didn't tell his Dad everything because his dad hadn't asked any questions. He was sort of glad his dad didn't, but still maybe he should have said more.

Not that Ian was in a tell all mood. Especially, after the talk with Eric. Had he and Derrick gone too far? He didn't want this to be all there was to their relationship now. The sex.

He nursed his bottom lip, thinking maybe he was nothing like he said he'd be. Honestly, he didn't want to mess this up. But to rewind and go back..before. He did want to be there for Derrick..but just how?

And then it hit him. Derrick needed a car. Amanda's car needed fixing up. Derrick was taking driver's ed in a few weeks.
