just a reminder

"I don't know why you did that," Sam said to Elliot after school when they walked out to the parking lot, ready to leave.

"Did what?" Elliot looked as if he hadn't a clue what was going on.

"That woman. That policewoman." Sam winced.

"The one with DARE?" Elliot squinted in the sun perhaps. He was quite innocent now.

"Are you mad at me?" Sam wanted to know.

"No." Elliot winced hard unlocking his car door.

"You're avoiding me." Sam told him. It was true. "Its about what I said, isn't it? How the baby needed your room."

"Look, I just introduced you to someone, new. Maybe, maybe you want to be a police officer. You could." Elliot was staying positive.

"Yeah, right." Sam looked at him perturbed. "I'm not going out with her."

"Fine." Elliot shrugged as he waited to get in to his car.

"She likes you, you know? She asked me who you were. You wouldn't even tell her your name." Sam reminded him, but Elliot wasn't listening. He got in his car and started it up.

Sam hoped he was listening. How was he ever going to get Elliot to give up on Amanda. It wasn't happening. He knew he had to be there for him, even if he didn't want him around.
