living out loud

Kyle remembered Jared's warning. It sounded like old news. Some other Rox. Not the Roxie he knew. He took it all in with a grain of salt. The wedding went as planned, and he and Rox went to New York City.

He knew she wasn't expecting a trip so big. Just the two of them. It was a far cry from their little ceremony by the indoor carousel at the pizza place. Really, it was romantic enough...with plenty of pizza for everyone. Of course, they were the first ones to ever be married there. Rosie and Jai loved it. Especially when they got the first carousel ride.

"Well, I did talk to Vanessa." Rox finally fessed up about talking to Jared's wife. "I dunno exactly what's going on. I thought they were happy."

"You really, think, he'll be here when we get back?" After all, they had Time Square to explore. Ice skating. Shopping. It felt so much warmer in the city.

"I hope not, but if he is-"

"Then maybe he'll see Jai, more." Kyle wouldn't deprive him of that.

Rox held him tighter as if she would not waver. Somehow, he knew this would make them both stronger. He would not think of that girl who had made life difficult for someone. He smiled back. Possibly, some people just brought out the good in others. Hopefully, Jared would soon see that..in someone.

I'm glad Kyle didn't let Jared bother him.
