the good and the bad
Kayla wasn't sure if she really wanted to work with relatives at the library, but it looked like she'd have more than a brother-in-law around. Which she was fine with Ian. She'd known Ian way before his brother Oliver.
But now she had her cousin Audrey around. Her parents begged Kayla to help her. She kept trying to avoid the possibility of it happening. As luck would have it, her cousin worked at one time at the college library. That was some time ago, when she was in college. Before rehab.
"I don't understand, why I have to be a shelver." Audrey wasn't happy when she found out their was a clerk's position in circulation that she could have.
"Less stress." Kayla just smiled as she sat at her desk, wishing Audrey wouldn't be so pissed. "Look, I tried." Really, she didn't. As it was, she didn't exactly trust her cousin. Audrey had been on all sorts of pain killers and what not for the last couple of years. Maybe, there was a lot Kayla didn't know. She intended to keep it that way.
Audrey kept giving Kayla a glare, that she could have done more for her. At the moment, Audrey lived at home. It looked like a very clean living. Audrey looked better than Kayla had seen her in a long time. Really, Kayla wasn't sure she knew her at all. But Audrey was family, and her parents expected Kayla to help Audrey.
"Do you want me to show you what to do?" Kayla finally got up to show her where the carts of books were.
"I know the Dewey decimal system." Audrey eye-balled her.
"Fine." Kayla eye-balled her right back. "Then I guess you better get busy."
