its a date

"Happy to see me!" It was Henry and his hands were covering Derrick's eyes. He'd came up from behind Derrick to surprise him. Naturally, it was easy to guess, but Derrick thought he might pass out from the fright.

"What are you doing here?" It was the library. And he'd just talked to Ian. Suddenly, Derrick felt so shaky.

"Have you been avoiding me?" Henry asked after he told him he'd been helping out with the children's craft hour. Something about volunteering and maybe a real job here, by summer.

"No, of course not." Derrick swore, but it was a lie. "Its been, like the week from hell, with that..that play." He knew it was wrong to keep this from him. "How about pizza tonight?" He wanted to make this up to him. If only he could splurge for something more. But his funds were low, and he really needed to be looking for work. Maybe Oliver, could use him again. Somehow. Down at Oliver's bakery.

"I dunno if I believe you, are not." Henry was all smiles and his fingers almost touched Derrick. There was an instant surge that was electric between them. It would be definitely wrong to have any fun here. But Derrick kept smiling as if it might be a dance of some kind.

"I do miss you." He whispered. Their were parents around. What would they think?

After all, he'd been to Henry's room. It was so easy to get caught up in his world. It was full of laughter and sweetness. Possibly far too good for Derrick. He knew he didn't deserve someone as fantastic as Henry. Even if he were grinning like an idiot now, Derrick wished he could hang around longer.

"Tonight. I'll pick you up." Derrick said barely above his breath.

Henry only smiled, and nodded and went back to help with the crafts.
