a little moment

"I didn't mention I was Derrick's brother." Max smoothed down his nice uniform coat he'd be wearing at the theater. He knew if he had mentioned Derrick, he possibly wouldn't have gotten the job. Even worse, Derrick might not have gotten the job if Max was hired. It was a fickle place. He'd heard the establishment really didn't even like to hire people if they were even friends. "So don't mention it. Maybe not even mention we're dating." He looked at Daisy who was sporting her dark coat too. They would wear bow ties and of course, she wore her dark rimmed glasses as if she could keep anyone in line at the theater.

She grinned and did her own little victory dance even if it were in her Mom's kitchen. Daisy didn't even pay attention to what he'd said.

"I can't hardly wait." She was so excited. "I hope I can do this." Now she sounded worried.

"You'll be great." Happiness over took him too. They were both going to work at the theater. They'd aced a summer job.

Max had his driver's license now, and hoped he might have his own car by the end of summer.

Daisy felt like celebrating now, as she dug into the fridge for some leftovers. He watched her take out all sorts of foods, from pudding to spaghetti.

"Honestly, I don't think I should be wearing this right now." He didn't want to chance it. Messing up a new coat before he even had a chance to work concessions or rip a movie ticket. He took off the jacket very carefully. This would be his uniform. He hoped he could be neat enough for the job.

Daisy took the same precaution.

They were going to orientation in a few days. They'd even get to see one of the latest horror movies before it was released. Part of the fun, working at a movie theater.

"Before we know it, they'll be coming to you, to fix things." Daisy told him.

"Lets hope it doesn't come to that." Max did like to tinker with things, but only at home.

She got out some dishes and they piled on the leftovers to warm up in the microwave.

  4. I'm excited for them. But not being about to act like a couple at work might bring problems too.
