"I know it makes you feel better, that you kicked Derrick, but seriously, all the fighting has got to stop. Remember, there is a baby to look out for." He stared her in the eye for a moment. "I get his concern. About us. Although, we probably aren't nearly the sex addicts that are evidently in his head. All I can say, you, are very..persuasive...when you want to be."
Now Josie was being all giddy and mocking how sexy she could be. Ian was only watching the show. At least, no one interrupted them yet.
"You have to behave yourself." He was holding both her hands while she was swaying about as if she was really happy with herself at the moment.
He asked about the coffee shop then. She talked about Willow. Then about a foreign film Willow invited them too.
It felt good to have plans with Josie. Still, Ian thought he should talk to Derrick. He wasn't sure how.
"I just hope he knows..I'm really not trying to hurt him. I'm not trying to get back at him." Ian knew Derrick was actually the least of his worries at the moment. They were almost in the same boat. Except, he was pretty sure he'd never really be part of somebody's life, Kayla's baby. Ian blew a breath, not wanting to dwell on that fact.
"Derrick can always dish it out, but he can't take it. He's a sensitive guy." Ian shrugged.
Josie rolled her eyes, wanting him to stop talking about Derrick. Ian smiled.
About then, they weren't alone. Kayla walked in with her satchel and her Kindle. Ian avoided eye contact. So did Kayla.
Josie shot him a look.
"My breaks over." He gave her a quick kiss. He aimed for her cheek, but she made sure it was on the lips. Naturally, she gave him back a kiss to let him know she'd miss him. Her smile dazzled even if she did look over to see if Kayla was watching. She wasn't.
Ian tried his best to act invisible around Kayla.
