everything is gonna be fine
It was a brand new year. And Derrick was holding Sunny's hand as if the future were bright. They were in the commons at school, and he was glad he found Josie with Ian before lunch.
"Hey, how was your holiday vacation?" It hardly felt like one, but Derrick kept smiling trying to be as pleasant as ever.
"Fine. What do you want?" Josie looked as if she were in a bad mood. Nothing cheerful about her.
"Well..since you asked...I was thinking..." He looked at Sunny who, of course, had the most kissable lips in the world. After all, he's spent the best part of his vacation with them. "Maybe, maybe Sunny and I could..you know, babysit Dylan, some time." He didn't know why he even brought it up. This was something to talk to Asa about. Not Josie.
"Really?" She looked at him as if there was some catch. As if it would cost him in the long run. She glared at him as if he was an ass, and always would be. Not even Sunny could change that. Then she looked over at Sunny. "I hope you know, he's only using you, Sunny." Her grin was more than snide.
"What the hell is your problem, now?" Derrick snarled. She was making him testy, even if he were wearing the hand knitted scarf that Sunny made him. He was having a really good day until he saw Josie.
"Your Dad stayed over." She said it with so much dread as if he better take care of this situation.
"My dad?" Suddenly he wanted to spit in laughter, but instead he lightly coughed. "With your Mom?" He winced hard with a delightful smile. Actually, it might be the best news he'd heard in a long time. Derrick kind of liked the idea of having Camille for a step-mom.
