Audrey wasn't sure if having Henry over was a good idea now.
"We should have invited Shan to join us," she said to Aidan as she cleaned up. There was lots of pasta left. They'd have so many leftovers this week.
She picked up the empty wine bottle. This was odd, she thought.
"Did you, drink the whole bottle, Aid?" She didn't have any. Henry was definitely underage. Of course, she trusted him. A lot more than herself, even.
"No." Aidan shrugged. "I had my maximum of one glass." He was scrubbing on the sauce pot.
"Oh." She didn't know if she should bring up what she thought. What was Henry up too?
"Maybe, I should call your parents. See if Henry made it home, OK?" She picked up her cell, as she bit her bottom lip. She'd call his phone first. If he didn't answer, she was calling their mother. But Henry picked up on the first ring.
"What?" He said immediately which she put her off.
"Are you all right?" She was holding the empty wine bottle wondering how had he done it? Why hadn't she noticed?
"Yeah, why shouldn't I be?" He sounded kind of angry.
"You, tell me?" She hated to accuse him of anything.
"Seriously? I'm fine. I'm hanging out with Shan." He told her.
"You wouldn't lie to me, would you?" She asked, but she wouldn't put it past him.
"Lie to you?" Now he was laughing as if she was the one being absurd. "I don't lie." There was laughter in his voice as he put Shan on. He told her they were out for coffee. Having pie and coffee. "We're just catching up." Shan promised.
"OK." Audrey guessed she'd let it go. The bottle was going in the trash. She never wanted to see another bottle of wine. Especially, if Henry was trying to get something past them. She guessed he was a normal teenager, after all.
