so it goes

Derrick must have been asleep when Fish sent all those texts. Pictures too. It was endless.

He could hardly budge from bed as it was. He still had a fever. He woke up will all sorts of little pains. He thought he might have actually had a fight with Hansen over Daisy. He stumbled to the bathroom to check for a black eye. He didn't have one, but his eyes burned, anyway.

His voice was gone. Honestly, he was too tired to even care what Sunny did, but it was all there in the text, what she'd really done... some time ago with Zac. And he knew Fish wouldn't lie to him.

Now Derrick felt a tad dizzy. He didn't know what to believe, but the strange thing was, he was on Zac's side.

He shivered under the hot blades of water, hoping he'd feel better. Instead he choked up the congestion in his stuffy nose and throat.

Derrick was good to no one. Still, it bothered him about this guy who looked like him. Sort of. Maybe.

Was Sunny doing this on purpose? It was true, he hadn't had a lot of time for her, lately. Maybe this was a good thing.

Didn't she get it. She was of a different caliber. She knew she didn't really need him. After all, she had the capability of doing something great. But he guessed she really did want to help him. Only this was one puppie who couldn't be trained.

He washed up and found some new pajamas. Derrick climbed back in between the flannel sheets. When he closed his eyes, he wasn't thinking of Sunny with this new guy. No, he thought of Fish, and his smile when Fish was driving Derrick's car. Derrick had been happy, too. Derrick wasn't thinking of what had happened with Daisy, nor anyone else. He'd never had a friend quite like Fish.
