still the same

Elliot wasn't sure what to think. He was suppose to know her? Kat.

Suddenly, he felt very old. Yet, it was like a ghost from the past. He didn't really remember Kat, at all. It freaked him out at first as if he was suppose to recall important moments with her. He didn't. It was a blank. A big fat blank.

Did she want something from him?

It troubled him a little at dinner time, but he didn't really say anything about it. Besides, there was the humdrum schedule to tend to. After dinner, babies needed to be bathed and read too and then some cuddling of their own after getting some lesson plans looked over and papers graded.

Finally, he let it go. He hardly saw anyone he knew from a few years back. Even his Christmas card list was hardly a list anymore. Naturally, he would never have a reason to send Kat a Christmas card. He didn't even know her? Right.

He wouldn't think of even seeing her now. What was the point?

But then she was in a dream. And when he remembered her laugh, he knew exactly who she was. He woke up in the middle of the night. She laughed at everything he did at work. It was a bit of a giggly high. Things were different then. He liked how she smiled around him. They did have fun working together at the craft store. Of course, they didn't really work. It was more silliness than anything.

Elliot had done so well to forget. Even he'd amazed himself. Yes, he'd had a one night stand with her. But it was nothing of any real significance. Still he felt horrible.

She got fired from her job because she kept playing around and was never serious. She almost took him down with her, but somehow everyone was on his side that worked there. And he never really thought about Kat, after that.

Even now, he didn't want to think about her. He really hoped he didn't see her again.

  1. It would be upsetting. I think Elliot has changed too. But I can understand how he might be a bit mad at himself.

  2. Maybe Elliot has some rethinking to do about his life. Seriously, though, I hope he won't doubt himself.
