a little like a promise

Honestly, Derrick didn't even know anything about a party. He really didn't. He was out of the loop, lately.

Sure, a part of him was in mourning, because he should be. Sunny was on his mind now, more than ever. It was hard to find peace, and it was best to keep to himself. He went in waves of grief, but there were times, he didn't feel so selfish.

He remembered the soup kitchen that Sunny and her mother helped with. It was there he decided it might be a good idea to give back. Perhaps, serving up grub for homeless people gave him a lot to think on. So he'd got the ball rolling. But he'd need Zac's help. He hoped he'd be up for a concert.

But he wasn't home. Zac's Mom was really nice about it. Told him he was across the street. If only he'd gone to the kitchen door, but he knew soon enough he was interrupting something.

"Its OK." Camille promised. She looked really pretty with her hair braided on the side. There was something really sweet about her, but Derrick couldn't exactly figure it out. Maybe, he found her sexy even if she'd put on a little weight.

She told him there were plenty of leftovers. He went to kitchen with her, hoping Josie wouldn't be too mad.

"Well, I .." He couldn't think what to say. He was starving. Before he knew it he was scarfing down a plate of spaghetti with breadsticks.

"So have you heard from my Dad?" Derrick guessed talking to Zac wouldn't happen now, but he was here with Camille and Duncan who were hiding out in the kitchen while laughter seemed to be an on going thing in the livingroom.

"Oh, you know." Camille's smile was polite, but he wondered then what she was keeping from him. Duncan went to put out more drinks. Derrick grabbed a soda before Duncan got away. It seemed Duncan knew too, whatever it was bothering Camille.
