The cold days of March

The Cold Days of March prt.1

"Are you serious?" Fish was bright-eyed as he heard the news of Henry and his Epileptic seizure. Leo was at the hospital with Henry. "Yeah, I'll let them know at the library."

Fish got off his cell and put his phone away. He should call Shan, but he was certain his boyfriend could care less that Henry was epileptic.

Out of the corner of his, he saw his sister Syreeta sneaking up the stairs.

"Where have you been?" He asked, thinking nothing had been the same since she'd broken up with Sawyer.

"Nowhere." She sucked in a breath.

"Don't tell me nowhere. Mom and Dad think, you are upstairs studying." She was being so not the Syreeta he knew, lately. "Tell me what's going on?"

"Like, I said..nothing." She swelled a frown.

Fish winced. "What happened to you?" A part of him felt sure it was all Sawyer's doing, but Zac had let Fish know early on that Syreeta broke Sawyer's heart. He was still being a recluse these days.

"I don't know what you mean?" Syreeta faked a smile. She was being fickle. Yes, she thought she was going to go out with a football player, but instead, she meet his cheerleader sister and her friend and those friends..and..she'd gone running back to Holden.

She was not cut out to be popular. She decided now. Actually, she didn't like that scene, at all. It was like they were so bored with life. They had to create trouble. OK, so maybe if it had just been her and the football player, it would have been so different. Yet, she was beginning to think he couldn't decide anything for himself.

And now, she wasn't so sure about Holden, either. One moment she had him hot and bothered and the next he was cold as ice.

"Just quit lying to me." Fish followed her upstairs. "You know, I almost told Mom and dad that I thought you and Sawyer were..well, that he was hurting you, you were so secretive. And then I find out from Zac that Sawyer is so sad after the breakup. All he wants to do is stay in his room."

Syreeta hugged herself and rolled her eyes. Sawyer was being sensitive. Way too sensitive.

"Boys have feelings too, you know." Fish gave her a dead stare.

"I just wanted something different." Syreeta gritted.

"How different, are we talking about?" Fish wanted to know.

"I dunno." Syreeta sighed. "Its just..I wanted to be with Holden, all right."

"And?"

"And..he's kind of a jerk." It was the only way she could put it nicely. At the moment, her love life was at an all-time low, and nothing out there was going to fix it, anytime soon.

  1. Some guys are trial by error. Its not easy in the romantic department. I'm glad Syreeta is learning about guys.

  2. Things might be rough, but I am glad she is telling Fish about it, at least a little.
