leaps and bounds

Leaps and Bounds prt. 1

"I just don't want her to think I'm perfect," Carson said while he was out with his Dad and Gage, as if it were a necessity to stay in touch. After all, he had no idea just how much longer his dad could stay. He'd been here for weeks, staying at his sister's. He suspected his Dad would be off to where he lived, any day, but his Dad had asked what was on his mind while he was waiting for burgers to grill. His Dad offered to make them a home cooked meal even if was at Henry's house.

"I've had my troubles, trying to figure out..you know, what I really want. I've seen what I don't want." Carson knew his Dad didn't want to hear it, but a good portion of his life was waiting on a mother who was an addict and maybe even bipolar.

Naturally, Gage set there like a bump on a log.

"Good, Essie was honest with you. Sounds like you two are on the same page with things." His Dad just smiled about his relationship with his girlfriend Essie. Then he turned to Gage. "So, Gage, how's your love life?"

"What makes you think? I've got one?" Instantly, Gage was defensive.

Carson and his Dad both cracked up.

"Oh, this one's a mystery." His Dad smirked as if he understood him, completely. Gage hugged himself and sulked a little. "I get it. You, fall in love easily, and then you don't know what to do. Believe me, been there, done that..and..it still happens."

Now his Dad was being a mystery.

"What are... you getting at?" Carson hadn't seen his Dad with anyone.

"I got a job." He shrugged as if maybe he even surprised himself. "Granted, I've worked at Good Will for a good long time. Well, it feels that way. But I'm not going to work there anymore. I got on at the college."

Gage and Carson both winced. What could their father possibly do at a college?

"I'll be doing some PR and manage concerts and the like." He sounded as if it would be a piece of cake. "Oh, and I'm moving in with Gage."

Leaps and Bounds prt.2

It was late, but Vada finally got up the courage to phone Henry. She finally, remembered his cell number.

When she heard his voice, she knew he was mad that he hadn't heard from her earlier.

"I'm sorry." Even though, she knew that didn't cut it.

"What is going on?" He told her how he knew she was modeling. First he said it was great, then it wasn't.

"Just when are you coming home?" Henry wanted to know.

"I dunno." She wasn't sure they'd even want her to come home. "I've messed it all up. I know I've messed it all up."

She was full of mixed emotions as much as Henry, but he handed over the phone to Myra, Henry's mother. As soon as Vada heard her voice, she knew she had to find a way to get home.

  1. Wise choice to have Myra talk to Vada. This will be interesting to see how Gage will be with his Dad around.

  2. I am glad Vada is going back to talk to Henry... I don't think she has totally messed it up yet...
