That's how it is

That's how it is

Vada didn't mean to be curious. She hadn't meant to steal her brother's thunder, either.

But it was obvious, Lottie wasn't being true to Frankie. She wasn't even there for the 4th.

Actually, Vada caught Lottie upstairs at the Boarding House with Bear(her boyfriend's little brother).  The thought of the laughter pained Vada now. Obviously, they were having a good time.

But she hadn't got the courage to bring it to her twin brother's attention. After all, he was in the midst of summer school. He even received a recognition from some Corporation, for his summer internship. Yes, there were lots of good things happening for her brother.

By August he'd get a real salary. He wouldn't be working for peanuts. She hoped Lottie wouldn't bring him down. Vada certainly didn't want to be a downer.

She was busy with shelving books as the Children's Reading Program was winding down. She did her best to focus on her work, but she looked over to see some long haired dude staring at the graphic novels. Or was he just staring into space?

"Can..can I help, you, find something?" Vada knew she wasn't helpful enough. Of course, they were on the lookout for someone who was stealing DVDs with a box cutter. She didn't think it could be him. After all, she saw him, come in with those from the group home. Most went to the computer lab.

He only shrugged.

"What do you like to read?" She asked.

"I used to be into all those old gangsters when I was kid. Now, I dunno. Thought, I might find some Dare Devil to read." He told her his name was J, and he didn't have a library card.

She showed him the series. Actually, Vada felt a little sorry for him. He didn't even have a library card.
