I can see how people look down

Sheena did wonder if she was wasting her time, with Minnie. After all, Omaha hadn't been forthcoming with anything on his mind.

Valentines day was nice. They went out to a Mexican food place, then to a musical in the theater district. It was based on the songs of the Ramones. The song of the night was SHEENA IS A PUNK ROCKER. Really, she'd never been on an outing quite as unique.

Of course, he didn't talk about much. She wanted to know how Sara and Taylor were, but he only smiled and said they were OK. Besides, they ate before and after the show. The foodtrucks were out in full force and it was delightful to get street food, after the show. She guessed they stuffed their faces more than they talked.

Still, the night turned chilly and they got caught in the wet snow. Once they made it back to her place, he stayed over.

Funny, how she remembered how his teeth chattered.

"Well, you were doing it, too." He told her. They couldn't get warm enough, but finally a warm shower did the trick.

Sheena could hardly keep her laugh in, while was waiting for the cookies to bake.

"Evidently, Valentines day was good." Minnie's sheepish grin brought Sheena back to reality. Sheena cleared her throat and nodded.

Minnie smiled back.

"Didn't.. you miss Valentines day?" Sheena couldn't help but think Minnie should be home with Blackie, even if it were a home cooked meal, but then she realized Minnie did all the work. She cooked. She cleaned. She did that at Josh's house, too. How could she be so happy?

Soon enough Minnie was scrubbing  the mixing bowls.

"Don't do that." Sheena ordered. She pointed to the little dining chair. There was enough cozy space for two. "I didn't ask you to come over to clean house."

"I know. I just-I just needed something to do." Minnie told her, but she sat down. Immediately, her hands went to her burgeoning stomach.

"What do you like to do?" Sheena wanted to know.

"I want to sew." She nodded. "But, I don't have a sewing machine, and I have no time for it, but I have some ideas."

"Like, fashion?" Sheena squinted.

Minnie shrugged.

"Do you hear from your folks?"

"They're mad at me." She was even lipped.

"But why?" Sheena didn't know. It wasn't until she understood..it was her sister who was engaged to Blackie, not Minnie. She listened to Minnie's words. Minnie sounded so tired of talking about it. Sheena knew it was a struggle.

"I shouldn't have asked." Sheena pressed her lips tight, as she pulled a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm sorry-" She was about to say, but the timer went off.

Just as Sheena got out the hot sheet of snickerdoodles, she turned to Minnie. "I'm glad you're with Josh."

Minnie's smile was innocent, but Sheena had a feeling they were good together.
