an observation

an observation

Ste found himself thinking about his work wife, a lot. Now he'd never say such a thing to Gabby, having a work wife. But he believed it true.

A lot like Macy being his work wife, back in the day when work could be so painstaking.

He smiled at the thought of Valentina. He did like his conversations with her. Except, he let her do most of the talking. He listened.

Of course, Gabby forced him to talk. It was tiring. Why couldn't they just do what they were best at?

It was not cool conversations about what was on Netflix.

They'd watched "THE END OF THE F***KING WORLD together. He found it quite disturbing. He found the language rather harsh, and he didn't like the girl in it, at all.

"Don't compare me, to any of that rot." He swelled a frown when she found something funny about the dialogue or when someone got smashed in the face.

He wanted to say something, like "Oh, I wish Valentina were here."

He was certain they could talk all night, or maybe it was the thought he could listen to her sweet voice, all night. Even watching her mouth move was such a delight.

He looked at Gabby now. Perhaps, it was getting old. Maybe she didn't have any good jokes in her, nor ideas, for that matter.

Funny, this never bothered him in the beginning. Of course, at the time, he was quite menacing and he still didn't make her run away.

Did he hate her and much as he loved being with her? Well, when the moment arrived, he really needed someone like Gabby.

He was certain, Valentina would fall short in that department. Yet, maybe that's what he loved about her. She didn't think about such physical connections, like Gabby.

"Why didn't you want to do anything on Valentines day?" Gabby asked now, as if to give him a ping on the head for being such a stubborn bull.

"It was freaking cold." He winced. "There was nothing lovely about the day."

"But, you..you..didn't even..think..." She started.

"What?" He moved away from her warm bare body next to him in bed. "You knew, what you'd want in the end." And she could get that, any day she came up to see him. "What's so special about Valentines day?"

He was a  p r i c k  when it came to Gabby.

She shut her mouth. Ste smiled as he turned to her. When he touched her lips with his, he brought her under him. Of course, he touched her more, as if he alone could flip the switch to make her his.
