it's kind of happening

Drew rubbed his thumb and forefinger. The sharpie would not come off. He winced hard. It was days ago since his rock painting afternoon with Ellie's girls. Would it ever come off?

He heard Draco in the hallway. Drew's little office was in the art department.

"Hey," Drew went to his doorway and gave his friend a wave. They hadn't talked much since Draco's wedding. "How's it going?"

"Um, OK." Draco shrugged, but in the next breathe was telling him about Macy.

"Wow, that was fast," Drew said before he could think it through about the pregnancy. He bit a grin as if he should shut up now.

"So, how's your summer going?" Draco went into Drew's office and made himself at home.

"Not bad," Drew had to admit. "I've, well...just hanging out with Ellie." He knew it wasn't exactly dating, but her two little ones could keep one busy and it was a good excuse to see her.

"Are you dating?" Draco asked.

"Oh." Drew winced, shook his head no. He didn't think so.

"Well, maybe, she's not dating, anyway." Draco shrugged and mentioned he'd never seen her with anyone.

Drew nodded.

"But, do you want to date her?" Draco smirked. Drew couldn't help but let a smile slip.

"I dunno if I would know, what that is." Drew gritted trying to think of his last date. It was frightful. He really wasn't as easy going as Draco might think. Looks could be deceiving. Sure, plenty tried to set him up from time to time, but it never worked.

Unfortunately, he really liked how things were with Ellie. It wasn't that complicated.  They were still friends, after all this time. That had to count for something.
