as the summer goes

"You'd tell me, if there were any problems, wouldn't you?" Xander couldn't help but be concerned about Joey. Of course, Dakota (Joey's daughter and practically Xander's daughter, too.) kept insisting that things were going great this summer. But, he didn't quite believe her, so he had to ask Joey's pregnant wife Liv, how life was on their own.

She didn't say much, other than having a hard time sleeping. It was as if it were all her fault.

"Please, tell me, if anything is wrong." Xander wanted to hug her. She put up with so much, he was certain of it. He knew how hard life could be with Joey.

"We're fine," Liv insisted. After all, it wasn't easy getting used to a new home (even if it was old and a bit of a fixer-upper), especially with a baby on the way. "Dakota's made new friends and, and Kevin is over on the weekends."

Xander didn't want to be envious of his so-called brother. At least, he didn't worry much about him these days.

"You're so busy, with going back to nursing school." She reminded him he had Sunny to look after. Didn't he have a girlfriend?

"Rosie's over all the time," Xander shrugged. He was glad someone like Rosie was in Sunny's life. They complimented each other. "Have you seen Hal, lately?"

Xander remembered Hal was like a brother to Liv. Hal was now raising a baby on his own. Xander had wanted to keep in touch with Hal, but he was sure Ducky (his husband) would not like the idea. Xander didn't want to keep secrets from Ducky, but he still worried if Hal was OK on his own with a baby.
