this life as we know it

Tiffany felt she was aging decades by the day, staying up so late with baby Beth. If that wasn't enough, Gordy (her husband) got on at the university. The pay and the benefits were better, and he knew everyone in the department. Yes, he still helped out with theater productions over the summer. He'd done some networking and landed a teaching position at the Uni.

"I dunno," Tiffany told her mother she wasn't sure to be happy or sad about the situation. "He seems to be getting younger."

Her mother laughed as she swayed the baby ever so slightly until she slept in her arms.

"I'm not kidding." Tiffany looked at her mother wide-eyed. "Can't you see it?"

"Its because you're so tired." Her mother smiled.

Tiffany went back to work after her six-week leave and Betty's friend Doris was seeing to the baby at Tiffany and Gordy's house.

It was true, Tiffany felt she didn't have any energy.

"Do you think something is wrong with me?" Tiffany wanted to know. Naturally, she'd never been like her younger sister Brit who was full of energy with both of her little ones.

"You've lived hard," her mom reminded her. "Remember all the stress with Brick's father? That was a lot to get through. I'm sure I was no help either. Stress hangs around, even if you don't want it." Her mother said it was something only she could deal with. "Maybe, take a baby yoga class, or find some essential oils that might help you and the baby get a restful sleep."

Still, Tiffany knew she was on her own with this. She knew she was happy for Gordy and his new career move. She knew she was blessed, but why couldn't she feel it?
