Hope tomorrow is like today

Rosie felt bad. She hadn't seen Ellie and the girls in forever. So she decided to spend her Sunday with them. After all, Ellie knew her mother best and her Dad, too. Ellie was her dad's step-sister. Although, she knew him way before they became siblings.

"Has he called you?" Rosie wanted to know.

"Sorry," Ellie said she hadn't heard from Kyle in a long time. She wasn't so sure he would like how she was now.

"Why is that?" Rosie tensed, thinking her so-called Aunt was the best role model she'd ever had. Instantly, she hoped Ellie wasn't taking the path her father Kyle had with drugs and visits to rehab.

"Oh, he'd probably just make fun of me." Ellie's smile was open. She told Rosie about the new guy in her life. "The thing is, I knew Drew long before I knew Kyle." They'd been in elementary school together. Drew used to read to her when she was in first grade. He was in third grade back then. "And we met again, over the summer at a wedding, just to find out a few weeks later, he's my neighbor."

She told Rosie that the girls liked him. Naturally, Zoey and Chloe chimed in, "We love him!"

Rosie was making sugar cookies with the girls. They talked about Ellie's boyfriend for quite a bit. They even showed her a picture of him.

Rosie grinned and got out her phone to show them pictures of Sunny.

"He's my best friend." She told them.

Ellie told her she was happy for her. "I'm glad to hear he's your best friend." Ellie then talked about her teens. "I'm afraid I worried too much. Thinking, I was never good enough."

"You? How could you say that?" Rosie smiled. "You're the best."

Ellie smiled and shook her head. "Thanks, I guess, but remember no one is perfect. We all make mistakes. You just have to hope for the best and hope tomorrow will be full of sweet surprises."

Rosie nodded, remembering how Ellie's father divorced Rosie's Dad's mom, but they lived together now after he got sick with cancer. Now he was having to take care of her, who was still trying to get off pain medications.

Rosie wanted to worry less and enjoy her school life with Sunny.
