It was by accident, but Ollie was glad to meet up with his old friend Sid at the Old Towne bakery where Ollie's girlfriend Valentina worked. It was there he met Sid's long lost brother Sunny.
"Man, I could swear you two are twins," Ollie scratched the back of his head in thought, remembering how he'd wondered if Sunny were his brother, but never got up the nerve to ask.
He never had classes at the high school with Sunny. They were practically strangers.
"Well, I'm his other brother," Ollie laughed. They'd been in a foster home together. "He's the best." Ollie did would he could to encourage their brotherhood. It wasn't until Valentina pulled him away, that he guessed he was in the way.
Still, he asked for Sid's number and where he was staying. Ollie was determined to still be friends with Sid.
"What about your other friends?" Valentina looked at him blankly. Had he called Kramer lately? Wasn't there anyone else he needed to catch up with?
Ollie looked up when he saw a familiar face come through the door. He couldn't help but smile. It was Candy and she was with Simon.
"Hey, it's you," Ollie smiled, hoping he wasn't too friendly. He remembered a time they almost dated. She'd spent the holidays at his house because she didn't have anywhere to go. Ollie sighed as he looked at her, wondering what he'd be doing about now if they had hooked up.
She smiled back and tilted her head. "Hey, stranger, you never called me." She sounded as if it was his lost.
Ollie scrambled to Valentina and told Candy all about his girlfriend.
Candy nodded, asked if he knew Simon.
Ollie nodded, although he couldn't say he really knew him. Valentina was already bringing him flat whites that he hadn't even asked for.
Was there something he didn't know about, going on between Valentina and Simon?
