Rearrange the pieces just to fit me with the rest

"Don't you think Simon should be mad?" Alfie pointed out it was he (Alfie) who went to Thanksgiving dinner with Steve at his parents.

"I don't think so," Steve only yawned as if he didn't see it that way. "They know you. It's always been you." He went to make coffee in the kitchen.

"What do you mean?" Alfie shouted from the livingroom. "They think..WE are together?"

"Jesus, must you think everything is a romance," Steve barked back. Although, he realized romance wasn't a word he thought of a lot. Steve winced, hoping Simon wasn't mad. After all, he'd spent the weekend at his brother's. For all Steve knew Simon might have met someone and... oh he didn't want to finish that thought.

"Everything is all right," Steve said once he brought Alfie the coffee. "We're fine."

"How sure are you?" Alfie looked him over as if he should really think about this. Was he in love with Simon or he wasn't?

Steve only winced. He did feel tired. Although, he didn't think he was coming down with anything. It was just being alone wasn't as much fun as it used to be. And Simon didn't even text him. Steve hated to admit it was frustrating.

Alfie munched on some biscotti that he brought from the drugstore. Finally, he grinned after he took a sip of black coffee. "I met someone on Black Friday."

"What? A customer?" Steve gave him a soured look.

"No, they just hired her. I think she's out of high school." Alfie nodded.

"Well, let's hope so. God knows, what you might do."  Steve rolled his eyes at that.

"How come you always have to make me out to be a player of some kind?" Alfie scratched the back of his head.

"Because, somehow you are, even..even without meaning too," Steve sighed, knowing it wouldn't do him any good to go over Alfie's adventures with the female species. Alfie just let things happen. Evidently.

"I am serious this time." Alfie was straight lipped. "I need to find someone and not think about Poppy. I have to stop thinking about her."

"Well, that is kind of hard not to do since you live with her," Steve smirked.

"You need to stop waiting," Alfie looked at him. "You'll wake up one day and realize your soulmate got away."

Steve only sighed. He didn't want Alfie to be right, but Alfie might be wrong about Poppy too. Maybe she was his soulmate.
