Days are fading away

Keir was happy to hear that Liam got on in security down at City.

"That's so cool," he smiled, thinking how did that happen? Lizzy worked at the police department. Now Liam was in the new city building handling everything from photographing city employees to taking care of police dogs and no telling what else.

"Oh, I dunno." Liam did look tired. He said he hadn't actually had a day off yet. He was still at the grocery store at night.

"But why?" Keir winced. That was no life to have. He didn't even see him on the game they used to play together. It was just an accident they were having lunch in the park.

"I got nothing else to do," he smiled.

"But you'll make yourself old in the process," Keir was sure of it. He mentioned he'd had his vaccine, both shots. "I didn't feel so good." He'd been under the weather for a week or so. "I even got a COVID test, but I didn't have it." He told him he was sorry he hadn't kept in touch. Finally, he said who he was seeing kept him pretty busy. "She even wanted to take off work when I was sick, but no way did I want her sick too." He smiled as he spoke of Lizzy, but he didn't really want to say too much more.

"Well, you're looking fine," Naturally Liam kept it simple as he ate on the sub sandwich that Keir brought. He'd gotten vaccinated too. He had to before he could work at CITY.

"I hope you're really doing OK," Keir looked him over, wishing Liam had called sooner. "I'm glad you got on full-time."

"It's good." Liam talked about the old-timer he would replace at the end of the month. "Man, that guy Dale knows a lot of stuff. He's been in wars and I don't know what all," he winced. "And he's got all these adopted kids and a heart problem."

"Glad you're learning the ropes." Keir nodded and sipped on the sugar-free drink. "Just don't overdo it."

"I won't." He kept even lipped.

"So is anything else happening?" Keir wanted to know.

"Not really," he shrugged with a small sigh. "I'm having to help Dale's daughter organize this retirement thing for him. Top secret, evidently."

"Well, that could be interesting." Keir smiled at the thought that maybe Liam was actually seeing someone.

"Not really, she's terribly bossy." He didn't even look at Keir when he said it.
