Getting cozy

Brick was so happy to see Izzy and he couldn't wait for Halloween. He didn't care what they did as long as he was with his girlfriend.

Of course, he'd made it official during the Homecoming Game. As bad as COVID had been, there was still homecoming. Granted, no dance, but there was football. Thankfully, he hadn't had to count on Chance and Rosie nor even Matty and Valentina to get there.

No, it was just Izzy and himself on a cozy fall night in the stands. Of course, he was stressed, but he didn't think Izzy knew it. Later, when they went out for pie afterward, he told her his feelings. Of course, all he got out of her was a smile and a giggle. "um..me too."

She said she knew. "Not that I know, a lot of guys," she sighed. "I just knew I liked you the moment I met you." Sure, she was a Junior in high school with her driver's license and had never really dated. She said he was noble which left him baffled.

"Really?" It still cracked him up with laughter. He wasn't so sure, even after he looked up the definition online. But he wanted to make sure he was that guy she said he was. Besides, if it had worked out this far, then maybe thinking about their relationship would really do no good.

So here they were at the pumpkin patch. He wanted to say he was so glad she had a driver's license, but he didn't. No, they held hands and he was happy. Happy that she wanted to be with him.

"I wonder if we should invite Vanna out with us for Halloween," Izzy said while they were out on a hayride.

"I don't think so." Brick didn't want to have anything to do with her. Besides, she'd yelled at him at work. He thought she was being more than just cranky lately. He'd hate to tell Izzy what he really thought of their so-called co-worker of a friend. He winced, wanting to be nice, but.."I think she's seeing someone."

"Oh, you mean that guy Jay?" Izzy looked at him blankly. Brick shook his head, no.

"No, not him."

Izzy looked at him curiously.

"I..I just.." Brick sighed wanting to think twice before he said it. "I saw her with this long-haired dude, I think they were arguing, but..but that might be what keeps their romance going." He nodded.

Izzy only laughed softly, as she took his arm and rested her head on his shoulder. "Oh, I'm glad we're not like that."

Brick only smiled. At least she wasn't curious who this guy was of Vanna's. He guessed he shouldn't be curious either. After all, it was snuggling weather and Brick wanted to make the most of it with Izzy.

  7. I have always thought of Brick being noble. Deep down, I think he knows this too. Yet, I'm glad he doesn't have a big head about it, either.

  12. What a sweet chapter! Brick and Izzy seem so innocent, especially compared to the dramatic romantic stylings of Vanna and the drifter. Brick's thoughts about Vanna are so snappily written and entertaining: "He'd hate to tell Izzy what he really thought of their so-called co-worker of a friend." Finally, the end, as gripping as ever, stays true to the beginning: "Brick only smiled. At least she wasn't curious who this guy was of Vanna's. He guessed he shouldn't be curious either. After all, it was snuggling weather and Brick wanted to make the most of it with Izzy." Thanks for such a seasonal and uplifting read!

By the way, I too am a procrastinator. Especially about housework! Does it count as procrastinating if you never do it?!
