"Oh, she might be in the hospital for a while," Brick told Gina. He was doing his best to help out when he could with the babysitting. Harley was sick with acute pneumonia.
He didn't know why he felt so guilty about it. But he was doing the best he could at the moment, hoping she was going to get through this. He didn't want to think about the night at the pool. When she'd said Covid to Cade everyone moved out of the pool rather fast. Yet he and Cade got her to the emergency room.
"I want to see her," Gina said.
"I know." He didn't want to mention the breathing machine and the other things. "Maybe when she's better."
Of course, the days felt so long. Usually, he'd stop to see if there was any progress. She was going to be OK they said, but it would take time and she needed rest.
"I think she's back," Vanna said when she showed up at Misty and Slater's. Yes, she and Koda were still living at Jay's.
"What are you talking about?" Slater set her down with some iced lemonade.
"You know who?" Vanna practically winked. "Lindy?"
"But she's in the hospital," Slater set her straight. He'd just talked to Jay this morning. There hadn't been any change. She might as well have been a zombie. A zombie that never moved.
"Well, there was somebody snooping around," Vanna told them. "I practically walked right into her. Or maybe she practically walked into me. She was wearing shades and it was at night."
Slater kind of smiled at her as if she might be seeing things. "Have you eaten? Are you hungry?" He asked. "I can make you a burger."
"No, I know what I saw. I mean, she didn't dress the way Lindy would dress, but it had to be her and she wondered where Jay was." Vanna shrugged as she sipped the lemonade.
"Did you tell Jay?"
"I dunno if I should," Vanna festered a frown. "He's been so depressed lately, I don't want to get his hopes up."
"Then maybe you shouldn't." Slater nodded. Of course, Misty held Scout and didn't say a thing.
"He..he wouldn't be seeing anybody, would he?" Vanna looked up at him curiously.
"Well, I hope not." He smiled, but she could tell he was worried too. "We will all keep an eye out for this Lindy character," Slater said Jay was better off without her.
Interesting
ReplyDeletebeing in the hospital is not very nice... But i hope she will be ok soon
ReplyDeleteSad accident :/
ReplyDeleteThat's sad, hopefully it will get better soon.
ReplyDeleteRecently not a big fan of hospitals :-|
ReplyDeleteUy pobrecito espero que se cure pronto. Te mandoun beso.
ReplyDeleteCovid is tough, and oh no not a breathing machine. Poor thing...
ReplyDeleteSlater's back!
Thanks for your comment. I hear you on the Italian. We had Olive garden left over from work but after eating it two days in a row I need a break. :) Your comment on the Bear Island cover was super interesting too. Lie To Love sounds pretty good. I just finished The Swell by Allie Reynols and there was a cliff and climbing shenanigans there too :)
Boa tarde de sexta-feira. Aproveito para desejar um bom final de semana.
ReplyDeletesad to go to hospital
ReplyDeleteTwo troubled girls, each in the hospital for different reasons. An interesting mirror image installment! I was surprised to hear that Harley has pneumonia instead of COVID, but with the breathing machine it sounds just as bad if not worse. And Lindy! I must confess that I'd forgotten about her! That last episode with her split personalities was so scary and sad. I hope that she comes through this okay. Speaking of which, I'm dying to know the identity of the sunglasses-wearing prowler!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for including my things in the collage! Polka dots and Van Gogh, perfect together. 😁🔴🎨
