"You didn't tell him we got married?" Wolf squinted. Generally, he was always happy, but now he felt sad that Remi didn't want to share the news to anyone.
Of course, it had been a quiet affair. She didn't even take a day off from work. Neither did he, but it had happened.
Remi didn't even ask for Harry's help when they moved. She hadn't even told her cousin.
It was true. It was just us. Sometimes, it felt she didn't have a family either. He knew he couldn't question it, but still he liked the idea of extended family. Most of his life had been been in a back of gas station. He knew nothing really of those who had raised him. It was as if he hadn't existed.
He nursed his upper lip.
"We will tell him, when the time is right," Remi said Harry was in a bad way. "But I'll invite him over, and we can tell him then."
"Why did he and Maisy break up?" He couldn't imagine Maisy cheating on him. She was good at the deli and she was an inspiring artist with her jewelry too. She was always so busy.
"She had a chance to work on Broadway," Remi told him. "Harry wasn't going to hold her back, you know."
Wolf nodded.
"I wish we could have been closer," Remi said when she spoke of Maisy. "I feel like I never knew her. You know, like maybe I wasn't supposed too."
"Don't go saying your a bad person again," Wolf hugged Remi then. He knew this song. Some days she could be so depressed. But it hadn't happened in so long. It was time to be happy. He knew they were good for each other. They were a family. He wanted to be here for her if she'd just let him.
Still, some of the time, he felt he might be the wife in this relationship. Sure he did his share of cooking and cleaning, especially on those low days when she didn't want to crawl out of bed. But somehow, she always made it down to the drugstore for her shift even if it might be at midnight.
Really, he wanted her to find something else to do. Wasn't it time for her to find a job she'd earned skills to do? But he couldn't dare breathe a word of it. He would let it be.
Still, it felt they were so all alone and he knew she needed her friends just as much as he did.
my hubby hates cooking and cleaning ;p but i like it:)
ReplyDeleteThe story is turning exciting
ReplyDeleteFriends are important
ReplyDeleteTo have true friends is a great happiness in life.
ReplyDeleteRemi does have a bad reputation. She really hasn't gone to these great links before when it comes to friendships. Perhaps she is making up for lost time, and yet feels she might deserve their understanding anyway. Thanks so much for reading.
ReplyDeleteWe should never leave unfinished business in our lives, especially if it takes us away from good friendships.
ReplyDelete(ꈍᴗꈍ) Poetic and cinematographic greetings.
💋Kisses💋
Aww that's tough to feel alone. Wolf seems like a good egg
ReplyDeletegreat to have good friends
ReplyDeleteRemi kept quiet to friends about her marriage to Wolf, and that surprised him. However, he understood (from her remarks about Maisy) that she needed her friends as much as he did.
ReplyDeleteInteresting storyline.

"Still, it felt they were so all alone and he knew she needed her friends just as much as he did."....This part really got to me for some reason. :') A great chapter, Ellie. I hope their marriage stands the test of time.
ReplyDeletePS I totally agree how some current book releases these past few years have been kind of sub-par, although there have been some gems too, of course:D AND I think your Barbie projects sound soooo cool!
