Bells are ringing

Christmas was coming, and here Riley was still deep in thought about the Melissa and Sterling situation.

It wasn't the most fabulous Thanksgiving. Exactly. Yes, Tess was a wonder in the kitchen and Riley felt bad that she didn't help enough for Thanksgiving weekend. It seemed she was already busy with Holiday  programing at the library. But they'd managed. Riley did decorate and make the farmhouse festive. They had news to share with Yuki and Em about their holiday wedding plans. It wouldn't be much, but Tess' sister wanted them to get married at her house. At least that was the plan, and then Sterling showed up with Melissa.

Seriously, Riley thought she might not make it through the day. She was full of emotion, seeing Melissa like this. Of course, Melissa could have cared less. Riley sensed this, and maybe that hurt more. She felt as if she were a bag of emotions and she did her best to remain quiet, yet it kept her up at night since then.

Sterling and Melissa.

Riley was certain Sterling wasn't Melissa's type. And then ..now a baby?

"Maybe we could help," Tess was there to the rescue and Riley felt a bit left behind. "We could raise the child." She said they'd help with the doctor visits. "It could be an open adoption."

Of course, neither had much to say. It had put Tess and Riley on pens and needles. Naturally, Melissa was as unhappy as she ever was and it made Riley terribly stressed. She was certain Melissa wouldn't want her to be part of raising the child.

"She'll come around," Tess said about the situation. They had a good talk about Riley's past with Melissa.

"I knew who she was the moment I saw her," Tess told her. "Maybe..maybe it was meant to be."

Of course, Sterling looked so thin as if he was going through his own morning sickness. "This way, he can be a part of the baby's life." She'd even offered him to stay the summer with them.

Still, it felt Riley was on the verge of a heart attack. She was certain Melissa hated her now. Yet, Tess reminded her they had a wedding to plan, "And you know, we can't keep our flower girl waiting."

Yes, they both adored her sister's little girl, Penelope. She was the one who wanted them to have a Christmas wedding in the first place at her house.
