"Don't you get it? No news is good news?" Tyra didn't have time to listen to all of Millie's troubles at the coffee shop. But of course, it was her little sister who called her first. Evidently, people didn't like being bossed around by somebody a lot younger than them. Millie was scared of C.W., who did most of the cooking. Evidently, he'd been in jail not long ago. Some such story, Tyra didn't think was true. No way would Chili hire a degenerate like that. But at the moment, Millie was worried about Mom, who took over Tyra's job at the bakery.
"If things are so hard for you, just give it up, OK?" Tyra snapped. After all, she had her own qualms at her job. She was at the bottom of whatever it was there. She mainly answered the phone and handled the copier at the moment. She was OK with these two things, but then they were expecting her to be a fashionista and barista, evidently.
Of course, she could handle it. She wasn't going to let it slip that she didn't like anyone there. She was keeping her wits about her. After all, she was living with Naoki now, and they drove to work together. Met up after work and went home. Simple as that.
She was dragging, though, by the end of the week. She had to take it easy on that extra fun stuff, like booze, pot, and even pizza. She knew they should be cooking together. And maybe next weekend. At the moment, he was the one doing all the cooking. His stir-fries were great. After all, he'd done all the cooking when his mom was there, so it was his kitchen.
It was taking some getting used to, but Tyra was willing. She wanted to learn her job, too. She had to think positively. She didn't need this nonsense of Millie's bringing her down.
"What did KC have to say about this?" Tyra was trying. She didn't want to be her little sister's enemy. She just wanted her to shut up about work. There was a time when all Millie could talk about was KC and how they were getting married, and it was going to be so perfect. Did they ever fuss? Tyra wondered.
Well, she wasn't going to say anything bad about Naoki. How could she? He was so good to her, and he made her want to do good things too. This actually surprised her the most. She didn't know how in the hell that happened, but she certainly wasn't going to dwell on it.
"Look, maybe next Sunday, you guys can come over for dinner," Tyra found herself saying before she could stop herself. It was the least she could do. Of course, Milie might rant about C.W. the whole time.
I hope the friendship between Millie and Tyra will last...maybe both of them need a little vacation to get away from all the daily chaos.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting to see sisters communicating. This cook might be a new character, too.
ReplyDeletePeople need a push to get back to life sometimes
ReplyDeleteSounds good
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to learn more about CW, he sounds like an intruiging character. Tyra needs to broaden her horizons and live beyond her relationship with Naoki, I've known girls like theis, they turn their back on their friends and end up desperately lonely when their love lives go wrong. xxx
ReplyDeleteLess partying is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteThat's the way it is. Often, what's not news is good news.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a great new week <3
This chapter sounds good.
ReplyDeleteYour treatment of human psychology is awesome dear Ellie 👍🥰
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the episode thoroughly♥️
Great post 😊
ReplyDeleteI can understand why Tyra feels uneasy.
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen can be such a stressful work environment....and with her knowing that CW was in jail, I imagine it adds to the stress.
But maybe CW is just misunderstood?
Maybe he is not a bad guy.
