Millie wished she knew what set her off about CW. Or was it the other way around? What did she do to make him so bitter?
"Ma, I'm trying to be patient. I really am," Millie said as soon as she got hold of her mom, who was still at the bakery. She mentioned that the reports weren't too difficult to keep up with. She was good with the money and the supplies. She even helped prep for the lunch crowd. True, she did have a headache, and she wasn't sure how much longer she could even stand, but she knew she could get used to it. She just had to.
"But he just won't listen to me," Millie sighed as she half hugged herself while on her cell in the little bit of the corner where she could be alone.
"What's he not doing?" her mother wanted to know.
"Oh, he's slow, for starters." She closed her eyes, wishing for a quick nap.
"Are you nice to him?" Her mother asked.
"I don't know."
Millie tensed. She tried in the beginning, but he kept going out back for a smoke, and she would have to reprimand him about that. Couldn't he read the sign? Of course, she might have badgered him about how he wasn't this way around Chili, which led to a full-blown argument, during which he said she was a tattletale if she called Chili at home. All the while, it was causing her to be away from the front when she needed to be at the counter.
"Ma, is there any way you can help me with CW?"
"Child? Who in the world do you think I am?"
That was the last thing Millie thought she would hear from her mother.
"Well," she sighed. "Should I call Chili?"
"No." Her mother said it had been a good long while since she'd been a fry cook anywhere. "I don't know if they'd eat anything I cooked."
"I don't want you to cook," Millie sighed. "I just want you to get him to cook."
"Just leave him alone. Don't mess with his domain, all right."
"What am I supposed to do?" Millie scowled. It had been such a golden opportunity until now.
"All right, I'm coming. Just hold on a little longer." Her mother gave in, and Millie's headache lightened a little.
Very interesting story 😊
ReplyDeletecooking is my therapy:D
ReplyDeleteMine too
DeleteIt seems Millie has a nice relationship with her mother.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice how she asks for her mother's advice.
Maybe Millie should not worry too much about CW.
We cannot control everything.
I understand how Millie isn't sure is she being nice to him or not.
Sometimes it is hard to read our own actions, let alone the actions and reactions of others.
It's good that Millie can keep on top of everything, cooking, supplies, and reports...even with a headache.
Still, it's good that Millie's mom is there for support.
Have a lovely day.
This was a really nice chapter.
good
ReplyDeleteMillie needs to be more assertive when she' s in charge. It is hard to boss people around but CW is taking liberties. x
ReplyDeleteCW needs to be talked too and get in line,
ReplyDeleteHello!! thanks for the chapter.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!!
It's a good chapter, which shows that at work we must be leaders and know how to lead and impose red lines that must not be crossed, otherwise we run the risk of losing authority. Have a great weekend, Ellie!
ReplyDeleteQue bom que Millie pode contar com a mãe,
ReplyDeleterelacionamentos podem ser muito difíceis.
