Reckless and so hungered

 "I wish I could be more like you," Eli told Darry as they were setting up Guitar Hero to play. 

It wasn't game board night, quite yet and Darry invited CW too. Actually, Darry forgot how to play. It had been that long, but evidently CW remembered because he was going at the game with a vengeance.

"Why?" Darry laughed as he handed him a can of cheap soda. 

"Oh, Amy wants so much, you know, and I know I sound like a loser, but I am trying. It's just no way will my parents let me drive. They don't want to pay insurance, and I'm still saving up. It feels like I'll always be saving." He wrinkled his nose as if life was just too hard.

"Yeah, well, I know you can do it. You'll see, it'll work out, even with Amy." Darry shrugged about the matter.

"Sometimes, I think I should just say it's over and maybe she can drive some other guy crazy," he sighed. "But it's always been her. We've been friends since, forever."

"Just keep being you. You're great at music. You're really good at so many things," Darry reminded him that he'd written movie reviews for the school paper. He might go to state this year in jazz.

Eli sipped his soda.

About then CW went on about how freak'n cool it was to play Guitar Hero again. He was practically dancing around. 

Finally, Darry introduced Eli to CW. It wasn't long until Eli took CW on the next round. 

Darry scratched the back of his neck. He knew they couldn't play this game on game night. These two could get wild at this game.
