in the kitchen, again

Lisa felt like cooking, Homemade pizza from a box. Ellie couldn't help but wonder why her sister was in such a good mood. She helped her by staying out of the way and pulling pepperoni apart.

"Geo wants me to go to Canada with him this summer," she said.

"You really want to go with him?" Ellie couldn't imagine her sister packing up and leaving with him. She'd always spent her summers with Zach, going to his baseball games and any other athletic thing he might have going on the side.

"Yeah, I do." She smiled focusing on the pizza as she patted the sticky crust down with her fingers. "Its like we really can't be alone here, you know. I'd rather Zach not know about him."

Ellie nodded, when she looked up she saw Kyle at the back door. She almost melted into a slight panic. "I wasn't expecting him." She told her sister.

"I get the feeling he likes it like that," Lisa smiled.

Ellie let him. "What are you doing here?"

"I was just in the neighborhood." He shrugged.

"Oh, really?" Lisa looked up from the pizza.

"You need more flour." He told her as he went to wash his hands. "Let me save that for you before its too late."

"Go ahead, Pizza doctor." Lisa sighed leaving the mess for him while she went to wipe the sticky mess from her hands. Ellie just watched as he did the pizza makeover. He really was good at this kind of thing.

He got the pizza in the oven.

"You could have called." Ellie told him with her hands in her back pockets.

"Yeah, and you wouldn't have talked to me?" He looked away then.

"I don't know." She shook her head, no.

He helped himself to a soda in the fridge. "Yeah, we know how that would have turned out." He popped the lid and drank.

"You don't know me that well." She stared back at him.

"Don't I?" He stared back.

They listened to the timer on the oven for a minute or so.

"You have no idea whats going through my head, right now," Kyle said.

"Maybe you don't know how I feel, either." She crossed her arms.

"I think I do." He put down the soda on the counter and leaned there for a moment.

"No, you don't." He couldn't.

"Why are you like this, El?" He shook his head, no. "You're pretty. You're smart, and the best thing about you is that you don't even know that. Can't you see you're like nobody else?"

"But I'm older than you. I'm suppose to-" This cloud of doubt filled her.

"Shut up." A smile came to his face as he came closer, "That has nothing to do with us." When he kissed her this time, she kissed him back.
