"What's got you so troubled?" Lisa asked with Ellie got home. Geo was there and making himself at home on the couch. That was suppose to be where Kyle sat when he came over.
"School." Ellie nodded, but it was that look of excitement Leia had on her face when she met up with Roxie.
"What did you do this time?" Lisa looked at Ellie as if she'd been sent to Dean's office again.
"Nothing. That's just it. I probably should have done something." Ellie got her some juice, then went up to her room. She grabbed the house phone and called Kyle. She supposed if she had to be stranded alone on an island with anyone it would be Kyle. Now he seemed to be all that she had.
"So how was your day?" She started with enthusiasm.
"Boring. Isn't that the way its suppose to be." He sounded indifferent.
"Mine too." She plopped down on her made bed and laid there thinking this might be the only person she might talk to before bed tonight.
"I thought you did exciting stuff," he said. "You are in high school, after all."
"Does that bother you?" She wanted to know. "The high school part. Its definitely boring, anyway."
"Not in the least."
"Really? Not even just a little." Ellie wondered.
"Like how? Am I suppose to be jealous or something?"
"No, of course not. Its just when I'm at lunch I start wondering, what are you doing at lunch. Who's at your lunch table. You know, idiotic stuff like that."
"I never thought about it much. I eat outside when I can. I have ever since I saw Elephant, the movie. You think I'm weird, don't you?"
"No, I don't. How could you say that? You're just so Kyle. I haven't met anyone like you." She told him. "So everything is going OK, right?" She was thinking the marks on his fore arms. Maybe for all she knew he just wanted a tattoo or something.
"Yeah, never better," he said.
"Geo's here," Ellie then said hoping no one would dare pick up on the conversation. Especially, Lisa.
"She's still got the hots for that dude?"
"I don't know if I really like him." Ellie squinted.
"Why? Isn't he in a band or something?"
"I don't know," Ellie said. "Lisa wants to go to Canada with him this summer."
"Is that why you don't like him?"
"No, that's not it. Its this feeling I get that Lisa might be the guy in this relationship." Ellie finally confessed.
"You're joking, aren't you. I don't think your sister has a penis." Kyle told her.
"That's not what I mean," Ellie sighed. "Its just I think if they were together, Lisa would be the one having to support him. I just don't think he's the kind of guy who's going to go out of his way to make sure she has everything she needs."
"Like what, diamonds and stuff?"
"No, I mean, he's lazy. I don't think he really likes to work," Ellie said.
"How do you know that?"
"He quit at Borders."
And such are the risks of an internet relationship in real life. (Sighs)
ReplyDeleteKeep writing! I love it.
This is getting really good! Oh, a couple of the winning outfits from earlier in the Project Runway season are on bluefly.com (probably sold out, though). I am sure at some point that Christian Siriano's work will show up.
