Dear Diary,
What can I say about the show? It was a blast! I'd never seen such togetherness. From the band or from those around me. Of course, everyone was into their music with its funky yet slightly retro beat varying from the baby fine backup voices to the lead singer's slightly Pet Shop Boy sound. It was like entering this whole new world with Cory and Eric into a packed house with pink and blue light show pulsing on stage. Cory had his date, but I kind of know who he was really with. Not that I know for sure. I mean, we were there for the music.
And I'm so happy that Kyle came along.
That was a bit of a rush. OK, it was rush. Him sneaking out of his bedroom window. Of course, he wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Sometimes, I think he loves to do everything the hard way. That way its more a challenge. More of an adventure. Of course, it does leave me a little stressed. I don't want him to get in to anymore trouble than he's already in. Not that I think he'd ever do anything terrible. But still, he's Kyle.
And it was just the five of us. Amber came along. Eric drove. Thankfully, somebody has a car.
I really felt grownup. Kind of hard to explain. Maybe it had something to do that it was an all age show. Of course, I was afraid it wasn't. Eric wasn't sure. He'd gotten tickets at the music place where he works. Actually, he'd gotten them from some guy who covers local shows for some newspaper thing. Which meant, he had to check in with Tony. And that alone is kind of a crazy friendship. I get the feeling Tony would like there to be more going on with him and Eric.
Of course, Kyle thought I was making a big deal out of all this when I mentioned it to him. Maybe he was right. I should have just been focusing on the show. But who knows, maybe Eric is trying to make Cory jealous. Yet, he didn't seem all that hurt that Cory was with Amber.
The thing about Cory is he has the way of making it look like he'd been Amber's boyfriend forever when I know thats not true. Not sure how she felt about it. We talked a little in the bathroom while waiting to pee. Its not that we're best friends or anything.
While we were talking, I remembered seeing her face on somebody's T-shirt. Some guy was wearing this T-shirt at school last semester that had Amber Forever on it. Its funny when I think now she was that Amber. So I guess she dates a lot of guys. And she does like the local shows.
Really, it was kind of cool hanging out with her. At least I had someone to talk too in the long line. She didn't seem to notice Kyle at all. And I liked that about her. She didn't question me about him. She's sophisticated in the sense of music, fashion and other stuff than just school.
Of course, there was Kyle time and that was fun. Him, dancing like a nut, but not making me feel like an idiot being with him. He's actually a good dancer. I'm glad we could go to the show together. Finally, I felt like we were really going out.
Nothing better than drinking coffee and eating pie at Village Inn with friends, afterwards at two in the morning.
Later,
L
I don't know why, but this song makes me think of the theme song from "pretty in pink"..very vaguely, of course.
