something to enjoy

Connie was back so Ellie got ready to spend the next few days with Ben.

"But before you go," Aunt Maggie said. "I want you to keep Clyde for me. He's taken a liking to you."

"What?" Ellie was in shock. "But you make him breakfast every morning."

"Its time he cleaned up his act. You won't let him get fat, will you?" Aunt Maggie gave her a stern look.

"Of course not." Ellie was all smiles. "I just don't know how Henry will feel about this, you know."

"Henry?"

"My cocker spaniel."

"It'll be interesting."

Ellie just sighed. She guessed it would. Her Dad was coming to pick her up in a few days. Of course, Aunt Maggie was upset that her mother wouldn't be coming along.

"She's got my sister to worry about," which was true, but Ellie knew her Dad had moved out. Things were going to be different when she got home only Ellie wasn't sure exactly what those changes would be. "I'm sure she'll be back sometime soon."

"I might not be here then," Aunt Maggie told her.

"Are you going on a cruise or something."

Aunt Maggie just gave her a dead stare.

"Come on, why not?" Ellie smiled. "You need to get out and see the world for a change, don't you think?"

"humph."

"Connie did bring back some brochures on some of those cruise ships. You might even gain a few pounds if you went on one those trips." Ellie kept going on with reasons to go.

"humph."

"Ok, I'm just saying, your walker might bump into, oh lets say, somebody you hadn't seen in years." Ellie thought of all Aunt Maggie's post cards of her old boyfriends. "Or maybe it'll be somebody you never knew. You gotta try."

"Aren't you the romantic one." Aunt Maggie smirked.

"Well, at least get Direct TV so you can watch real television out here," Ellie told her.

"That might be nice." Finally, something Aunt Maggie might enjoy.
