in the air

The level of noise drowned the night once they got to the concert. And Amanda was back to being her cold self again. Kyle didn't get it. One minute she was like a tiger ready to pounce, and then it was as if there was an off button which meant she completely ignored him.

It was a little strange. Kyle didn't know what to make of her. Why was she like this?

They met up with Derrick who of course, told them they were late. They missed the first band.

"So." She was ambivalent.

"But you like that electronic stuff," he said.

"Do I?" She was being bitchy to him too.

"Did something happen, I didn't know about?" Kyle finally asked between breaks and when only the rap music played.

"Yeah, you were there," Amanda laughed at him.

"So were you, why do you hate me so much now?" He winced. They were close.

"I don't hate you," she sighed. "My brother's right over there."

"He's not even watching us," Kyle told her which was true. Dan had his own little fan club surrounding him. He was counting cash if he wasn't smiling at some girl. "What is the big deal?"

"I'm a private person." She clinched her teeth.

"So, all right, I get it," but he didn't. It felt as if the tables were turned. She was the one in charge and it wasn't fair, especially since they were as close as they were to going through with something that he probably would have regretted sooner or later.

"I don't know if can trust you," Amanda said.

"I see."

"I want to," she nodded and kissed him on the cheek then whispered something in his ear that only made his eyes light up. Kyle just nodded.
